Combining clinical excellence and convenience – the London PET/CT Centre
The London PET/CT Centre is based in the heart of Harley Street. Housed in an impressive and spacious purpose-built building, the London PET/CT Centre is finished to the highest standards with comfortable and welcoming patient waiting areas, changing rooms and state-of-the-art scanning and clinical facilities.
Enhancing the patient experience
The Centre offers easy access to both able and disabled visitors, with highly trained staff ready to make the patient experience as pleasant as possible. Our PET/CT personnel are some of the most experienced in the UK, having collectively conducted in excess of 4,000 PET/CT patient scans, and to ensure patient safety we have a qualified Radiology Protection Supervisor (RPS).
Committed to clinical excellence and service quality
The London PET/CT Centre prides itself on clinical excellence. PET/CT scanning is a highly specialised field that requires real expertise and extensive training, and InHealth retains the services of some of the most highly experienced and reputable NHS Nuclear Medicine Consultants and Radiologists to facilitate an accurate diagnosis and ensure the best possible outcome for your patients.
The PET/CT service we offer:
- Next day referral (provided we know by 12 noon)*
- Report available within 48 hours of the scan (or sooner if urgent)
- Immediate faxing of approved reports
- Quick and efficient billing system for referrers
- Patient information leaflets accredited by the Plain English Society and available in 17 languages (on request)
* FDG needs pre-ordering the day before the scan.
Delivering rapid and sophisticated reporting
Speed and accuracy are of the essence in reporting. The London PET/CT Centre has a tailor-made reporting area that provides the reporting team with access to the latest software, as well as Internet-based reporting and full connectivity to Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS). All scans can be accessed by a multi-modality fusion workstation. Reports are available within 48 hours (or sooner if urgent), and our Reporting Radiologists are also available by arrangement to discuss their reports with referrers.
The scanning service is supported by a comprehensive diagnosis and treatment planning tool. This includes Philips Extended Brilliance automated image registration and review software package, which enhances oncology workflow between diagnosis and treatment.
Harnessing the latest scanning technology
InHealth is committed to employing the latest technology for the benefit of referrers and their patients. The London PET/CT Centre is equipped with one of the most technically advanced scanners, the Philips GEMINI 3D 16 slice PET/CT scanner. It delivers consistently outstanding image quality, enabling greater image accuracy for small lesion detection, and the open view gantry provides greater comfort for patients and increased acceptance by those with claustrophobia. The Philips GEMINI 3D offers a 190 cm scan length for both PET and CT, which allows true whole body imaging for most patients in one scan – which can take as little as 55 minutes. 18FDG is the most widely used tracer in PET scanning.
